Slow Shutter Speed - Conveying Action/motion as Best Possible

When/Where:
This photo was captured during the afternoon/twilight show on Friday August 7, 2026 at the Abbotsford International Airshow. I was positioned in the Photo Pit.

How:
I had my Canon R1 and RF600mm f/4.0 lens mounted on a gimbal and sturdy tripod and an Osee monitor attached to the camera's hot shoe to allow for easier panning while capturing photos.

I really wanted motion blur, a full disk on the tail rotor and as much as possible on the main rotor. Thus the 1/60 shutter speed and to control the amount of light entering the sensor I was at ISO 100 and f/11.

About the Aircraft:
The Bell CH-146 Griffon is a multi-role utility helicopter designed by Bell Helicopter Textron as a variant of the Bell 412EP for the Canadian Armed Forces. It is used in a wide variety of roles, including aerial firepower, reconnaissance, search and rescue and aero-mobility tasks. The CH-146 has a crew of three, can carry up to ten troops and has a cruising speed of 220 km/h (120 kn; 140 mph).
