The first photo, Cartoon Bouldering, I really liked. The composition is intriguing and I love vignette effect around the bottom. I think this would be a nice advertisement shot with a little more post work. The second shot however, I'm not a huge fan of. I like your concept, but I think your execution was a little off. My biggest problem with the photo is the flash in the background. I would have liked it more if you had composed in a way that hide the flash. I like the back light effect, just not the equipment being in the photo.
Thanks Ashlie! What do you mean when you say the first one could use more post? The purpose of it was, in fact, as an advertisement for a gym I work at, so apparently I hit the nail on the head there. As for the second shot, I can see how the flash could be distracting. How would you recommend setting up the lighting (using only the one seen flash) to backlight him, while excluding the flash from the photo? Once again, thanks a lot!
I think you could make it more dramatic with some more contrast and up the vibrance.
