Valle de Pineta — Three Images from Ordesa y Monte Perdido

Three images from a day in the Valle de Pineta, Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, Huesca. The valley sits at the foot of the Monte Perdido massif in the Aragonese Pyrenees and is one of the least crowded corners of a national park that somehow still gets overlooked.
The rapids are the Río Cinca running in full summer flood — the water level made boulder access more interesting than expected. The red sandstone waterfall was a complete surprise; the iron-rich Triassic rock gives the whole canyon its distinctive colouration. The third shot is the head of the valley in late afternoon as cloud banks moved in from the west — the light was diffused and hazy in a way that compressed the whole scene into something almost monochromatic except for the peaks.
