Hello there from Downunder

Hey Boys and Girls. I recently joined the photography family, although i have been a graphic designer for about 15 years which made it a bit easier on the retouch part. I know there's a long road and i would like if you guys can point things I'm doing wrong or right so i can have a better perceptive on my own work...

thanks a lot and if you wan to see a bit more please fell free to visit my site

Hi Fabian, welcome to the group, and to the wider photography family. I'm over in Perth, so your "downunder" title grabbed my attention.

Have a good long look around here and online for information about headshots. Reading critiques of other people work is a very valuable way to work. I've also gotten good value from the headshot tutorials that are sold here on FStoppers (both Peter Hurley and Dylan Patrick really know their stuff, and have some different takes on things).

I had a quick look on your site. First and biggest comment was the page loading took forever. I ran a quick test and the homepage downloaded nearly 50MB of content! My internet connection isn't terrible by any means, but if I was a prospective client I would have closed the page long before it finished loading (I'm talking over 30 seconds to load the full page). My own website is very image heavy (aren't all photographer sites), but only downloads less than 10MB, in well under 10s, based on website testing sites.

Good luck on your journey.

Thanks a lot Chris for taking the time to do that, I already optimised the site and i think its loading under 8 seconds and total sizes was reduced to abouth 2-3MB which incerease speed amazingly, thanks for pointing this out... in terms of tutorials I have been looking a lot from Peter Hurley and fstoppers vids, I bought two lighting and pose workshops that i think were very useful. lets see where this leads... thanks again and see you around.

Good stuff Fabian. Glad you were able to make such dramatic improvements to your page so easily. Tests reflect your results. Thumbs Up mate.
