Owls

We have five species of owl in the UK and all are dropping in numbers sadly, The short eared Owls here are winter visitors to this part of the country although a few do hang around all year at some spots. I was also lucky to see a barn owl and a pair of Little Owls on the same site but failed to get any decent shots of those.

Nice!

Really nice shots, Phill. You should try to send them to wildlife conservation societies in the UK to try to raise some public awareness. I liked the 2nd picture best of the 3 you posted. The front-but-slightly-to-the-side perspective and the way the wings have been rendered translucent by the sunlight falling on them. Well done.

Thank you. Lots is already being done to help the owl population. Persecution and loss of habitat are the biggest concerns for all our birds of prey.

Beautiful shots.

I like the mood and overall look of the 1st image.

But the detail of the 2nd one is so nice that I'm really torn between the two.

Thank you
