HARRIS'S HAWK

I took this shot at The Raptor Foundation where do much work in rescuing all types of Raptors. Many are returned to the wild though many are not native to Britain, they cannot be released. There is quite a trade in raptors, so one assumes that's how they get into our ecosystem, where they do not fit. They're often found starving or badly injured.

They survive because of people like me paying a membership donation each year, which isn't cheap, but I gladly give it. As a wheelchair user, it's the only place I get to see this type of bird, let alone photograph it, so I feel very grateful for that.
