There's been a sharp spike in creative videography in the last decade, particularly with consumer gimbals becoming available. Here is a great example of that innovation with a recreation of the Glambot style of shooting seen predominately on the red carpet.
You may know what Glambot is from social media like TikTok, but its origins in popular culture stem from red carpet events where a high speed camera quickly pans around a subject and then is slowed down in post. It looks like this:
As you can see from the behind the scenes footage, it's not a cheap or easy setup, and far out of reach for most of us. However, Kitty of Atola Visuals has worked out a way of doing a much cheaper version. It is of course not quite as good as the real thing, but it's damn good all the same and only requires a stand, a clamp, and a gimbal.
It seems as if the longer we're all locked in, the more creativity we're seeing. A silver lining I'll certainly take.
