Coming to you from First Man Photography, this excellent video discusses five techniques that can improve your landscape photography. One technique that I think gets overlooked quite a bit in landscape work is using a longer focal length. Most photographers default to using a wide angle lens for their images in order to capture the majority of the view, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that, but using a longer focal length can help you to isolate specific elements of the scene and create more abstract and unusual compositions. Beyond that, because viewers are so used to seeing landscape photos taken with a wide angle lens, using a longer focal length can help your work to more easily stand out from the crowd. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
