If I could give a piece of advice to any budding landscape photographer, it would be to carry a longer focal length lens in addition to the standard 16-35mm or similar choice. It is true that wide angle lenses are often the tool of choice for landscape work, but longer focal lengths can make for especially interesting and abstract images, and it is particularly important to perform this sort of experimentation when you are first developing your creative voice.
