Don't Overlook the 70-200mm Lens for Landscape Photography

The majority of landscape photography is done with wide angle lenses like a 16-35mm. And certainly, these are highly useful for the genre, but on the other hand, they are not the only appropriate focal length. In fact, much longer lenses can be just as useful, and this excellent video discusses why a 70-200mm lens could be just what you need for your work.

Coming to you from First Man Photography, this excellent video discusses why a 70-200mm lens could be the shot in the arm your landscape photography needs. No doubt, wide focal lengths are often chosen simply because a lot of landscape scenes are grand in size and require such a lens to capture them all in one frame. However, a longer lens can be a powerful creative tool by allowing you to manipulate perspective or to single out interesting elements and create more abstract images. Given how many landscape photos are shot with wide focal lengths, simply using a longer focal length can instantly set your work apart from the crowd a bit and make it easier to capture people's attention. Try packing a telephoto lens along with your normal wide angle the next time you head out the door. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
