Helpful Tips and Techniques for Photographing Mountains

Mountains are by far one of the most popular subjects for landscape photography, and they require their own approach and technique to get the best possible results. This excellent video tutorial will show you some helpful tips, techniques, and settings for improving your mountain photos.

Coming to you from Landscape Photography iQ with Tom Mackie, this great video tutorial will show you some great tips and techniques for mountain photography. Mountains are a compelling choice for landscape work for a lot of reasons, but they can be tricky to work with. For example, photographers often use a wide angle lens for them, but the difficulty in this is that wide angle lenses tend to push away the background, which can reduce the majesty and imposing figure a mountain creates. Regarding that drama, mountains often tend to cast sharp shadows and create an impressive interplay between light and dark. As such, consider rendering them in black and white to bring the viewer's focus to that relationship between light and shadow. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Mackie.
