One of the most challenging aspects of landscape photography is that unlike most other genres, we get no control over the placement of the elements in the scene, which is why composition is so tricky. One way to combat this and reinvigorate your work a bit is to simply bring along a telephoto lens. Using a longer focal length will help you exclude distractions in the frame and focus on just a couple of interesting elements in the frame, making for simpler, more direct compositions.
