We've covered Mylio products before; recently, they relaunched their Mylio photo manager. Think of Mylio as having some of the features of the Lightroom catalog, with some higher-end features as seen in Peakto. Now the company has just announced Mylio SecureCloud (powered by Backblaze), a cloud storage service the company says is born from a simple idea: our digital memories and important files deserve the highest level of privacy and control.
This isn't a review, but rather what I've learned from looking over the PR materials they have sent me. It seems like a product some photographers would be interested in, but without a review, I can't vouch for it. I'm going to arrange for a detailed look at the product, but I thought what Mylio is offering is worth a look.
Here are the features:
- Complete privacy. All files are encrypted and visible only to your devices. There is no data mining or AI training.
- Selective sync. Decide what goes to the Mylio SecureCloud and what stays on your local storage devices with simple, automated rules.
- Offsite copies and quick recovery. Your library is always accessible with an offsite copy, which is accessible with Mylio Photos (even offline).
- Preserved metadata and folder structure. Your face tags, keywords, metadata, and folders are preserved when you move files to and from the cloud, yet encrypted for your privacy and peace of mind.
- Instant search results. Mylio allows you to search across all your devices and storage platforms, and thanks to Mylio's unique nature, search results are instant, even if you have millions of images scattered across various Mylio devices.
According to Mylio, your data is protected with offsite storage and quick recovery through prioritized restore. Preserve your folder structure and metadata, seamlessly sync with local vaults, and back up your recent photos, enjoying the most efficient data management solution.
Mylio claims that Mylio SecureCloud typically offers two times faster speed than other popular cloud services. Powered by industry leader Backblaze, your data syncs quickly and efficiently, eliminating delays and keeping your devices in sync.
Besides photos, the service supports your videos, as well as PDF, Microsoft Office documents, and text files.
Cost are a bit confusing on the company website, as there are plans for Mylio alone and with the SecureCloud option.
I selected a plan with 2 TB to keep pricing consistent.
With 2 TB plans, users will pay $119.99 for the Mylio Photos+ subscription and $143.76 for the Mylio SecureCloud. The total per year is $263.75.
If a user is on the monthly plan, they will pay $11.98 for Mylio SecureCloud 2 TB and $12.99 for Mylio Photos+. The total per month is $24.97.
Mylio SecureCloud looks like an interesting solution. Now you know it exists, and I hope to have more to say on it soon.
