In June 2023, the call of Egypt resonated strongly, but my personal compass pointed beyond the pyramids, towards a goal I'd set two years prior: the immaculate immensity of the White Desert.
For this photographic expedition, I contacted a local agency, making it clear that my quest was for immersion, not just a fleeting glimpse. The typical two-day tour to the iconic "mushroom" formation wouldn't suffice; my adventurous spirit demanded at least four or five days of trekking through unexplored corners, far from the well-trodden tourist paths.
And so, we set off. For five intense days, the desert was our canvas, challenging the scorching heat to unveil its secrets. Among them, a discovery that bordered on the mythical: the Djara Cave. With no trace of human presence, no signs, in the absolute middle of nowhere, an enigmatic hole in the ground invited us to descend. Venturing in was to discover an underground sanctuary, a geological marvel that not only gifted me unique photographic shots but also offered a frigid refuge while outside, the thermometer soared above 40 degrees Celsius. A true hidden gem deep within the earth's embrace.
Absolutely STUNNING! Great job
