Portland Head Light stands against the rugged Maine coastline as the final rays of sunlight transform the white tower and keeper’s house into a warm beacon above Casco Bay.
First lit in 1791, this historic lighthouse has guided ships through Maine’s rocky coastal waters for more than two centuries. Today, it remains one of the most photographed landmarks along the New England coast.
For me, the appeal is finding that brief moment when the last warm light falls across the lighthouse and the surrounding landscape comes together in a single composition.
