Shane DeLong

I'm Shane DeLong, a photographic craftsman based along the shores and islands of Lake Erie. My practice began in editorial photography and has since expanded into commercial and fine-art work — creating imagery that elevates brands and gives spaces a sense of presence and atmosphere. I offer freelance photography services and fine-art services for a range of applications.

I was born an artist. Photography is the medium I discovered on my journey in life — the one that gave shape to how I see the world. Through practice, experience, and a continual pursuit of understanding, I've spent my career developing that relationship: between my eye, my craft, and the digital darkroom. I don't specialize in a subject — photography is the specialization. The specialization is the medium itself, the way I see and communicate through it, no matter what's in front of the lens. My goal is always the same: to create images that go beyond documentation and leave a lasting impression.

I received my formal education at the Washington School of Photography in Washington, D.C. (2003). From there, I apprenticed as a production assistant and digital tech, working alongside photographers in the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and Professional Photographers of America (PPA). That led me to a staff photographer role, then to a corporate photographer role — each experience sharpening my technical skill and deepening my understanding of the industry — all before stepping out into freelance work. Along the way, in 2008, I earned my educational certification from the Arizona Board of Education to teach photography and digital media.

Today, I collaborate with brands, small businesses, individuals, creatives, interior designers, editors, architects, design-build professionals, and communications directors — anyone who values the power of visual storytelling. Whether the project is a thoughtfully designed space, a brand in need of a stronger visual identity, or a vision only you can see, I'd welcome the chance to bring it to life together and capture your signature imagery.
