Throne Of The North

Even when the Fimbulvetr—the great winter—threatens to freeze the world, the light always finds a way to break through.

In Norse mythology, it is said that the sun (Sól) is eternally hunted by the wolf Sköll. This shot taken in Vareid, Norway, captures the exact moment the light wins the battle, crowning these jagged peaks as if they were the actual throne of the old gods.

The North Sea crashes against the coast with the force of frost giants, yet that golden warmth on the horizon is a reminder: after the darkest storms, the dawn always returns.

It’s a place where reality blurs into legend in the Lofoten Islands.
