Top 10 WeeklyFstop Photos: Snow

Top 10 WeeklyFstop Photos: Snow

We asked for snow and we sure got it. I spent the week enjoying the weather with my family. We alternated between outside time in the yard throwing snowballs, building forts, and warming up by the fireplace with hot chocolate. I was too busy having fun to get any photos, but luckily for all of us, our readers were not. This week's list might make you a bit cold so I suggest grabbing a blanket.

While snow outside often means it is quite cold and most of us choose to stay indoors, some more adventurous types grab their cameras and head out into the elements. This act defying laziness is often rewarded with beautifully unique shots only found a select number of days a year. I myself have to take advantage soon and get out to Niagara Falls like I did a few years ago when I captured the lead photo used for this article. Too bad I can never win the #weeklyFstop!

Honorable Mentions

Our first two honorable mention selections didn't want the "toy" theme to end so they combined.

Todd Tucker

My man Todd has under 100 followers yet immediately won me over with this great shot of his dog Gino. Gino is clearly no stranger to the camera sporting a perfect lost in though gaze off into the distance. Congrats and thanks to everyone for joining in! I hope you enjoyed. Be sure to check out our ever-growing list of entries here: #weeklyFstop on Instagram. A big thank you to everyone for joining in.

What is This Week's Theme?

I hope everyone had a great Holiday week. Since the snow prompt produced such a good list, let's keep the virtual snowball fight going and choose another winter theme.

"Frozen"

Remember to keep yourself (and your camera) safe! It can be slippery, people can't see you as well as they normally would, and cold weather can do serious damage if you aren't prepared.

Better Hashtags for 2018

The #weeklyFstop hashtag we have used up to this point has worked well but we are starting to outgrow it. The older tagged shots are taking forever to scroll down to. Based on some user feedback and 12 weeks under our belt we are going to start adding the theme to the end of the tag. This will help group your shots together more effectively and fewer entries will be missed.

So for week 13 please use #weeklyFstopFrozen.

Here are the previous week's results for anyone who may have missed:

  1. Leading Lines
  2. Bold
  3. Color
  4. Yours
  5. Simplicity
  6. Monochrome
  7. Music
  8. Light
  9. Action
  10. Thankful
  11. Bokeh
  12. Toys

Remember, there is no guarantee posting a photo will result in it being featured. If we get going and you fall short, keep shooting and try and learn from the photos that are selected. We can all learn to like our work a little less sometimes in order to grow. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas feel free to contribute in the comments.

Before you run off to get your next #weeklyFstop submission ready, are you all aware of the ongoing Fstoppers Photographer of the Month contest leading up to the Fstoppers Community Photographer of the Year? Alex Cooke covers how to be selected at the bottom of the above post.

Speaking of the Fstoppers community are you part of it? Did you know you can have your own portfolio here with chances to be featured on the homepage as Photo of the Day? If not be sure to check it out. If you already comment then you have an account. If not, use the sign-up button and upload some work! Besides uploading your own work and having a portfolio on Fstoppers, making an account allows you to follow your favorite writers and artists so you will be notified every time they publish new photos or articles.
