This image of the helix nebula was taken from my backyard near Phoenix Arizona. I Used an 80mm Apo refractor and a CCD camera on an Orion Atlas mount which compensates for the earth's rotation allowing for long exposures of deep space objects. This image is 5 hours of hydrogen data that makes up mostly the outer red area, and 2 hours of oxygen data which makes up the blue center. This nebula is typically referred to as 'The Eye of God' or 'The Eye of Sauron'
