First Snow

We recently had our first real snow since my baby girl was born and I wanted to take advantage of it. My goal for this shoot was to capture my daughter's reaction to something new as well as create something artistic that we could frame in our home.
It was cold but I spent about an hour scouting locations and lighting as shooting in the snow was new to me and I was concerned about the harsh glare from everything being white. When I was ready, we took her out and she loved it. We were able to get about ten minutes of shooting time before we decided she was too cold but she smiled and laughed the entire time.
For this shoot, I used the Canon 135mm f/2, one of my favorite lenses for shooting children. It gave the look I wanted of having the focus on her. Some of the falling snow in the background is real, but I did add some additional in Photoshop to bring it out more. This picture captures my daughter's personality well and is one of my favorite photos of her to date.

f/2.0, ISO 100, SS 1/1000
