It's not very often the visibility exceeds 15 or 20 feet at my local dive spot off Laguna Beach, CA. I only catch just a few dives a year with more than 40 ft of visibility.
When the conditions are good, the diving is transformed quite dramatically. The local fish can be quite curious and give a nice splash of color to contrast the blues and greens of the water and kelp.
