When we went to visit the Mid-West of the United States this past summer, we were expected some intense heat, extreme dryness, and clear skies for some star trails. We did get our dose in Death Valley with 119 degrees fahrenheit. Then as we moved on to Monument Valley, we were lucky in the day time, as it stayed pretty clear, but every night was cloudy and storm. Since the campground we had to stay in only have very lose sand, our tent ended up blowing away when we were gone at one point. Luckily, someone caught it, and brought it back to us. Lesson learned, always use a big rock to weight down your tent when you're gone!
During our time there, we ended up meeting a really cool tour guide, Tony, who took us to his favorite spot.
This photograph is from his favorite spot, and it is one of those nights where the wind was kicking up the sand and the thunder was roaring. We were all ducking low to avoid any unwanted power boost. Survive a storm in the desert? Checked!
Hope you enjoy this photograph, it was a very special memory! Sorry for the long description :]
