The white moth is the perfect accessory for this White Fronted Bee-eater. This beautiful bird was the momentary occupant of a branch near a mixed colony of Carmine and White Fronted Bee-eaters in the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia. The bee-eaters nest in burrows excavated into cliffs along the edge of the Zambezi River. Every moment or two a new parent would land on the same branch, wait a moment for a break in traffic, and take off with dinner for the hungry chicks. With all those birds coming and going, the branch was white for a reason!
I took the image with a Canon 7D Mark II with a Canon EF 200-400 mm f/4 L IS USM teleconverter lens, handheld. The exposure settings were 1/800 sec, f/5.6, 560 mm, 400 ISO.
