This is another of the images shot on assignment while covering a story ('Viva Flagler') for the Miami New Times about Flagler Street, Miami. The story was written to give the reader an idea of what one might experience while visiting the area -the sights, sounds, aromas and flavors of downtown Miami's vibrant commercial district. The photo was made inside a Cuban Cafe and the plantains, guava and spices give us a sense of the cuisine, while the painting of the Virgin Mary gives us some insight into their Catholic Latin culture. It was made using a Nikon F camera with a Nikkor Ai 105mm f/2.8 Macro lens on Tri-X film.
