Unwanted Morning Toilette for a Little Tree Squirrel

These little critters (tree squirrels) were a real nuisance during the days and nights we spent at the Kwando and Chobe river banks! They visited our huts on a regular basis scouting for cookies, apples, ... . Once they even gnawed their way through the walls of a solid plastic box that protected some nuts. The first hour after sunrise they spent most of their time on the roofs of our huts being busy with their morning toilet. The little one in this picture tolerated the cleaning activities (of his/her mother?) without any enthusiasm. Busily documenting these activities I almost missed my breakfast.
