Tigertail

The Common Tigertail (Ictinogomphus ferox) is one of the largest and most strikingly colored dragonflies in East Africa. They like moving water, and repeatedly visit the same perching spot, usually by the side of a river. We found this beauty near the headwaters of the Rufigi River, in the Usangu district of the Ruaha National Partk in Tanzania. I took the image with a Canon EOS R6 with a Canon 200-400 F4L IS USM 1.4 EXT lens, f6.3, 1/2500 sec, ISO 320, 560 mm, handheld.
