7 Lesser-Known Tips for Working With Layers in Photoshop

Perhaps no Photoshop feature is more fundamental to taking full advantage of the application than layers. Without them, there would be no way to edit an image without destructively altering the original, nor would it be possible to go back to adjust edits after you initially create them. This excellent video tutorial will show you seven lesser-known tips for working with layers to help you take your edits in Photoshop even further.

Coming to you from Matt Kloskowski, this great video tutorial will show you seven tips for getting more out of working with layers in Photoshop. One thing that I found particularly useful, which I never knew about, was the ability to change the size of the layer thumbnails! I rename my layers to make them more descriptive and easier to keep track of, but it is still really beneficial to see the masks so I can understand exactly where different edits are applied at a glance. Unfortunately, with my terrible eyesight, the smaller thumbnails are harder to see, but I just switched to the largest thumbnail of the three options, and lo and behold, things are far, far better! Check out the video above for the full rundown from Kloskowski.
