How to Change the Color of Anything in Photoshop

There are many ways to change the color of an object in Photoshop, but in certain instances, these methods fall short of accomplishing your goal. This video provides an in-depth tutorial on the best ways to change a color in any situation.

Photoshop Training Channel recently released an informative tutorial that explains the complete process of selecting and changing the color of an object. In this video, Jesús Ramirez does an excellent job of both explaining the basics of color in Photoshop and how to handle changing the color of objects that involve the most difficult selections. The walkthrough starts with a simple explanation of the differences between hue, saturation, and brightness. From there, the video explains how to use a hue/saturation adjustment layer to change the color of an object. Here, they also include a great example of turning a bright color to black or white or how to change it back to color again, all while maintaining its detail. 

The rest of the video focuses on the best tools to use to select colors in a number of different scenarios. This includes commonly used tools such as the color picker, as well as an excellent illustration of using the "Blend if" function for complex selections. In this example, Ramirez quickly select the leaves of a tree by removing the blue sky out of the selection.

Before watching this video, I felt that I had a decent understanding of how to change colors in Photoshop. However, after watching these examples, I learned several new methods that are more precise while providing a more straightforward process. This tutorial would be great for any photographer who has had trouble in this area.
