How To Quickly Make a Time-Lapse Using Photoshop

If you’re like me, you have little to no experience with time-lapses. It’s just something I haven't done much of. I’ve never had a client request it, and I’ve never really tried to do them for fun. I’m a stills guy, mostly, so time-lapses seem kind of like encroaching on video. But I thought this video was pretty interesting and had no idea that new versions of Photoshop have time lapse capabilities built in. Maybe I’ll give it a shot soon and get my feet wet with moving images with the help of this awesome tutorial on how to do time-lapses in Photoshop.

In this video, Adam Karnacz of First Man Photography gives a short overview of how he uses both Lightroom and Photoshop to quickly and effectively edit a time-lapse sequence. He doesn’t really go into much detail on the shooting of the time-lapse itself — probably because camera settings, exposure ramping, etc., are highly dependent on what you’re shooting — and just does a quick overview of editing and syncing images in Lightroom and then using Photoshop to string them together into a video.

If you don’t have experience with time-lapses yet, but are thinking of giving it a shot, check this out!

If you are going to go through the trouble of shooting individual photos and bringing them into lightroom, not using LRTimelapse is a crime for shooting timelapse videos. On top of that, recommending to only use manual mode when shooting timelapses is just plain wrong.
