A Look at the Affordable and Great Viltrox AF 24mm f/1.8 Lens

24mm lenses are quite useful, as they offer an attractively wide focal length that is not so extreme that significant wide angle distortion starts to creep in. Premium 24mm lenses can easily run well over $1,000, though. On the other hand, the Viltrox AF 24mm f/1.8 is quite affordable. Can it keep up with those more expensive options? This excellent video review takes a look at its performance and image quality to answer that question.

Coming to you from Maarten Heilbron, this great video review takes a look at the Viltrox AF 24mm f/1.8 lens. At $379, the AF 24mm f/1.8 is quite affordable, but it still comes with a variety of useful features, including:

  • Three extra-low dispersion elements for decreased chromatic aberrations
  • Two aspherical elements and three high refractive index elements for reduced spherical aberrations and distortion and better sharpness
  • Reduced radial glare for better point light source rendering when used for astrophotography
  • HD Nano multi-layer coating for less flares and ghosting and deeper contrast
  • STM stepping motor for quick and quiet autofocus with full-time manual focus override and Eye-AF support
  • Integrated aperture ring
  • Nine-blade diaphragm for smoother bokeh

Altogether, the 24mm f/1.8 looks like another impressive lens from Viltrox. Check out the video above for Heilbron's full thoughts on the lens.
