A Review of the Sony FE 40mm f/2.5 G Lens

35mm and 50mm are two of the most common focal lengths, but in the past few years, we have seen a small influx of 40mm lenses, which offer a unique perspective that is fun to work with and is a nice alternative from the two more common options. For Sony shooters, there is the FE 40mm f/2.5 G, and this excellent video review takes a look at the lens and the sort of performance and image quality you can expect from it in practice.

Coming to you from Christopher Frost, this great video review takes a look at the Sony FE 40mm f/2.5 G lens. With a unique focal length and compact size, the 40mm f/2.5 is an interesting lens, and it comes with a variety of features, including:

  • Manual aperture ring
  • Three aspherical elements for increased sharpness and less aberrations and distortion
  • Rounded seven-blade diaphragm for smoother bokeh
  • Two linear motors for fast and quiet autofocus suitable for photos and video
  • Customizable focus hold button
  • Declickable aperture for video work
  • Dust- and moisture-sealing

Altogether, the 40mm f/2.5 looks like a highly portable and sharp option, suitable for a wide range of applications. Check out the video above for Frost's full thoughts on the lens.
