This Thunderbolt Hub Has Just About Every Connection You'll Ever Need

Nowadays, most of us have far more devices than we have ports available on our computers, and rather than constantly hooking up and disconnecting different devices, it is far easier to just get a nice hub. One of the best available is the CalDigit TS4 Thunderbolt 4 18-in-1 Hub, and this excellent video review takes a look at its capabilities and the performance you can expect from it.

Coming to you from Apple Insider, this great video review takes a look at the CalDigit TS4 Thunderbolt 4 18-in-1 Hub. I have had the previous model, the TS3, for a while now, and it is by far the best hub I have ever used. The TS4 improves on its predecessor and offers even more capabilities, including:

  • Two Thunderbolt 4 ports with up to 40 Gb/s transfer speeds and daisy-chaining
  • Three USB-C ports with USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface
  • Five USB-A ports with USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface
  • microSD and SD UHS-II ports
  • DisplayPort 1.4 output at up to 8K resolution with single display or dual 4K 60 Hz output
  • Front 3.5mm audio jack
  • Two 3.5mm rear line-in and line-out jacks
  • 98-watt power delivery
  • Thunderbolt 4 offering 15 watts, front USB-C offering 20 watts, rear USB-C and USB-A offering 7.5 watts
  • 2.5GbE Ethernet port

Altogether, the TS4 looks like quite the impressive device. Check out the video above for the full rundown.

This is the one I use for my M1 MBP.

I have something like this too. It’s $30 and works well. I don’t see the point in these >$200 hubs for most uses.

I would like to have seen a 5 or 10 gb port.

I bought a Calldigit Element hub.
Mainly a slim USB 3 and TB4 device. That's really awesome!

But. Il you use it on TB3 port, it's a nightmare as if your laptop pis already ON, then connecting the hub, it is not recognized. It seems also to loose connexion if you move slightly the cable connected to your computer .

When used on real TB4 port like on M1 Macs, it seems to be more stable, witthout disconnection I had on my previous laptop.

I like the opportunity to connect 3 TB4 and 4 USB 3 harddrives, loupedeck and pen display on a such small device.

Where are the Thunderbolt 2 ports?
