The announcement of the Sigma 14mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens has captured a lot of the photography world's attention, as it is now the widest full frame f/1.4 lens ever made, easily besting out second place, Sigma's own 20mm f/1.4 Art. However, that does not mean it does not have competition. The Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM is a widely respected lens that offers great performance and extreme capabilities as well. So, which is right for you? This excellent video review takes a look at both to help you choose.
Coming to you from Christopher Frost, this great video comparison takes a look at the Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM and the new Sigma 14mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lenses. No doubt, if you want pure speed (astrophotographers particularly), the Sigma is the only choice, offering a maximum aperture two-thirds of a stop wider than the Sony, but it gets a bit murkier beyond that when you consider that both lenses offer very wide maximum apertures and excellent image quality and are only $100 apart in price. One thing is for sure: you will likely be happy no matter which one you choose, as they are both extreme optical tools that offer unique creative capabilities. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Frost.
