The Heartwarming Moment a Man Sees Full Colors for the First Time

It can be easy to take certain things in life for granted, such as the ability to see the normal spectrum of colors. Color blindness is a lot more common than you might expect, and this heartwarming video of a man seeing full colors for the first time reminds us just what a gift vision is.

Bobybuilder Bill Reed was born colorblind, leaving him with vision that his wife, Pam, says makes everything he sees blend into a "mud" color. For his 66th birthday, his entire family pitched in to get him a pair of Enchroma glasses, which use special lenses to correct for red-green colorblindness, and his reaction and immediate state of awe are truly heartwarming. Of his reaction, his wife said: “He has a very hard tough outer shell, so for him to break down and cry and get emotional was pretty emotional to me and my girls." The family has planned special trips just for Bill to experience more colors, such as seeing leaves change in the fall. We've written about colorblindness and Enchroma glasses before; if you're interested in learning more, you can do so here. It's certainly a powerful reminder of how precious sight really is.

Awesome!

That was so cool.

While this is undoubtedly heart warming and amazing, it's also almost a year old story.

And that is perfectly OK.

l have not seen this before. Thank you for posting.

A beautiful moment.
