See How Canon Makes their Digital Cameras

Michael Zhang (PetaPixel) dug up this promotional video that shows in great detail how digital cameras work and how they are made. If you are a photographer (and I know you are) or have an engineering background then you will find this video fascinating.

Canon Premium Library:
"An introduction to how digital cameras work that also highlights Canon's unique manufacturing expertise and latest environmental measures. Years of know-how, combined with leading-edge technologies and manufacturing processes, support Canon's position as the leader in high-resolution, high-quality digital cameras."

I believe he did it on purpose to cover the model of the DSLR.

Why are the Canon development engineers wearing concentration camp clothing?

I thought it was interesting, but I also loved the factory tours on Mr Rogers Neighborhood and sometimes watch How It's Made...

God, this is the most idiopathic movie....

So Canon's engineers work in white offices where everything is uniform clean and exact? I mean, my office cannot be made look pretty by the best photogs, but that is just absurd. Also, as a software engineer, I don't really appreciate the stock cheesy feel given to some of the most complicated processes involved in camera design process.

Karl Marx's theory of alienation pops up in my head.
Maybe canons products should NOT fall into the hands of themselves,
or these hilarious videos might keep coming out!

It was going alright until the awful voiceover kept going on about Canon's expertise and 'know how' in such an insincere way.

What a fantastic movie about Canon.

OMG!!! come on guys if you don't have something positive to say then don't say anything at all. There is enough negativity in the world. We are not interested in the fact that you never enjoyed the video - keep that to yourself! I for one found it interesting.

Yes, the comments are always funny :)

I agree with Eugene!  Don't know why people have to take such pleasure in bashing everything possible.  Its ridiculous!  I thought it was very interesting and informative.  I'm a Canon 7D shooter and love it.

i love my 7d. i hear often that nikon got better cameras, but not until i win the lottery and actualy can buy one, just so that i can compare them myself, i dont give a fuck. im happy with what ive got, i also have a 5d mk 1, and some good glass, i dont take another persons word for what is better then what i got.

I can't believe someone at Canon let this video see the light of day. It was like How it's Made but ten times cheesier.

I did however enjoy seeing the factory stuff but... all in all... that was horrid.

Now compare this to the Leica Hermès video!

Hey!

It's necessary understand that Canon sell's not only to professionals but also to ordinary people that want to eat mainstraem/pop pub Ad's.

And, this video is produced to ordinary people!

To my mom, cousin...
