Remember watching the trailer for "Fast and Furious 7" and chuckling to yourself about how unrealistic, improbable, and over-the-top it was to be air-dropping sports cars from a cargo aircraft thousands of feet above the ground? Me too. Just 24 hours after the release of the trailer, the filmmakers put out this featurette to prove us wrong.
While I was disappointed to learn that none of the cars were actually piloted by Vin Diesel, they were occupied by some badass stunt-people, a chase helicopter, and a small army of free-falling camera flyers with helmet cams. You've got to give "Furious 7" director James Wan credit for going the extra mile here. It's pretty awesome to see studios use their budget to film live effects.
Below is the trailer for "Furious 7" along with an extended cut of the air-drop scene:
"Fast and Furious 7" will open April 3, 2015.
If this isn't the coolest non-CGI movie scene you've seen today, I don't know what is.
Everyone loves to bash big budget movies but damn, that is cool! Props to those stunt cameramen. Wow! Thanks for the share!
