Google's Mobile Photo Editing App Snapseed Receives First Major Update Since 2013

It's about time, Snapseed. Google delivers big with the much anticipated 2.0 version of their free and wildly popular  iOS and Android photo editor for the first time since 2013. Some of the the new features of the welcomed update include new filters, brushes, and a spot repair tool for quick cloning on the go.

I'll admit I was a little taken aback and mildly inconvenienced when I went to open my Snapseed app on my iPad and found that it was a whole new Snapseed 2.0 world. I had photos to edit and not the time to readjust to an update. It was especially unexpected since the folks at Snapseed had seemingly hit the update snooze button for a cool year and a half. Snapseed is one of my go-to iPad and iPhone editing apps for the clean simplicity of the editing it produces. Alas, I still haven't gotten the chance to properly get the hang of this new version, but I'm liking what I've discovered so far. My favorite new feature has to be the ability to copy your edits from one photo to another. Holy bulk-photo-editing ease.

Check out Scott Kelby's interview with Google's Nils Kokemohr for a very useful walkthrough of Snapseed 2.0.

Snapseed 2.0 is available now on iOS and Android.

Have any of you played around with the new Snapseed and the new features yet? What are your thoughts?

still there's no way to save a bunch of edits as a custom filter, like mobile photoshop allows you to do.
or is there?

I don't believe so. I haven't come across a way to at least in my time using the new version. With the way the app is laid out I think it would lead to confusion for a typical user though as to why their localized adjustments can't be included in a custom filter. If they made it more clear as to what adjustments will affect the whole image and therefore can be a custom filter versus what adjustments are for this image only, I think it would be a cool feature to include.

Snapseed not used so far, surprisngly I've know about this software just now. Although I've been using Photoshop for photo retouching service since long time. Currently I'm using CS6 version.

I'm planning to use Snapseed in my iPhone 6. My current PicMoney seems slow while I work on the go. Looking forward to check out Snapseed performance to retouch my jewelry photos here: http://graphicient.com/jewelry-retouching/

My poor iPhone 4 can't have this as I am stuck on iOS 7. Damn.
