Step into Platon's Studio- A Behind-the-Scenes Look

Platon is a renowned photographer who's taken the portrait many of the most important, influential, and infamous people in the world. His portfolio includes photos of President Obama, the First Lady, Vladimir Putin, Muammar Gaddafi, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, amoung many, many others. The New Yorker recently shared this video taking us behind the scenes at Platon's New York studio during a portrait session and offers a glimpse at a true master at work.

In the video Platon leads you around his studio, showing off some of his impressive larger-than-life prints of the larger-than-life people he's shot over the years while talking about his style, method, and creative process. It's really inspiring to see Platon pulling such beautiful, dynamic lighting out of such a simple studio setup and to see someone still working with a Hassy 500.

He's a great guy. He created his own unique and original style which you identify immediately after seeing his works.

There's a lot of humility in this guy.

Love Platon and his work, and i agree with other comments, definitely has his own style. His eye and composition is great. Thank for posting Austin!

This is an old school approach to the portraits which I miss so much ... great images and his approach how to create them... it is all about the people and he knows that, simply amazing work on 6x6 Hasse :)

Very interesting. Seems like a very humble man!
Simple and true portraits for sure!

Very inspiring. I literally took notes of some things he said in there.
