5 Mistakes a Photographer and Filmmaker Has Made in His Career

Making a living as a photographer or filmmaker is hard enough even if you do it perfectly, but of course, none of us are perfect, and we all make mistakes along the way. This excellent video features a seasoned photographer and filmmaker discussing five mistakes he has made in his career and how to fix them or avoid them entirely in the first place.

Coming to you from Eric Floberg, this great video essay discusses five mistakes he has made throughout his career and how to fix or avoid them. By far, the biggest mistake I see new professionals make is focusing way too much on buying new gear or playing with Photoshop ideas instead of building business skills and the like. A lot of the most professionally successful photographers are not necessarily the most talented with a camera. Rather, they are strongly skilled businesspeople for whom photography is the service associated with the business. Of course, that is not to say that you can just ignore building your abilities behind the camera and at the computer, but be sure to set aside time to to work on those business skills too. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Floberg.
