Being a freelance photographer or videographer is an never-ending onslaught of emails, invoices, phone calls, marketing, networking, and occasionally, picking up a camera. It takes a lot of discipline and savvy to successfully balance it all while still having a life outside work and not getting burned out. If you sometimes struggle to be productive and efficient, this excellent video will give you some helpful tips to speed you on your way.
Coming to you from James Popsys, this great video discusses some ways to make yourself more productive. Being a successful freelancer takes some real time management skills. And while you certainly will not be successful without good discipline, I have found the thing that actually helps me the most is respecting my need for downtime. After a while, I simply get burned out and my brain starts to feel like mush, and my ability to be productive grinds to a halt. I used to think that when I had a lot on my plate, the best thing to do was to simply try to power through without regard for my need to relax and recharge, as I saw that as wasted time. But in truth, taking short breaks and listening to my mind and body's needs makes it far easier to stay truly productive. Check out the video above for lots of helpful tips from Popsys.
I'm going to add to this, turning off all notifications on your phone that are not important. As soon as I did this, my screen-time went right down, I wasn't greeted with a phone full of facebook & app updates when I wake up.
