Of all the genres out there, landscape photography is probably one of the most nebulous when it comes to establishing yourself professionally and building a career out of it. This great video features an experienced professional discussing his journey from amateur to professional landscape photographer over the last decade and many of the lessons he has learned along the way.Â
Coming to you from Dave Morrow, this excellent video discusses the lessons he has learned in his journey of building a landscape photography business. Part of the trickiness of making money from landscape photography is that unlike most other genres, you will rarely have a direct client assignment. Rather, most of your money will be made through things like print sales and the like. And of course, while becoming proficient with your camera and post-processing is crucial to finding success, the best thing you can do for yourself is work on learning the ins and outs of small business management and marketing. It is unfortunate, but I have seen plenty of talented photographers who fail to find success simply because they lack good business sense, and I have seen others who have seen significant success even though they weren't superstars behind the camera simply because they had good business sense. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Morrow.Â
