San Francisco-based commercial photographer, Erik Almas, is known for his flawless composite work as well as shooting campaigns for many major companies such as American Airlines, Toyota, Microsoft, and Nike, just to name a few. In January he is offering a workshop where he will take you through his entire workflow, from shooting the background plate and model, to editing. What makes this workshop even better is the fact that 100 percent of your money will be used to help build a school through Pencils of Promise!
I know firsthand how going to a workshop can impact the life of a photographer. A workshop such as this is what really gave me a good kick in the pants a little over a year ago and got my career off the ground. If you know anything about me, you know that I am all about using photography as a way to make this world a better place and to give back. The fact that the whole point of this is to raise $25,000 to build a school is the icing on the cake for me. If you are looking for a great experience, I urge you to definately look into this. You will be glad you did! I spoke with Erik and he said he has been giving to this cause on his own but that this is a way to make an even larger impact. The spots are filling up quickly so don't wait too long! Even if you can't do the workshop, you can still help the cause and get some awesome perks for doing so! Check out Pencils of Promise for more information on donating.
Below was pulled from Erik Almas' website:
I recently read the book “The Promise of a Pencil” by Adam Braun. It’s an extraordinary biography where Adam shares his story of passion and following his heart. I was so moved by his emotional and heartfelt journey of starting the organization Pencils of Promise and how he dedicated himself to building schools and giving education where truly needed, I just had to be a part of this somehow. Adam has shown that passion and big dreams can accomplish extraordinary tasks and create extraordinary change in people’s lives. Education for children is truly important to me and I’m excited to join Pencils of Promise to increase access to quality education for children in the developing world.
We at Erik Almas Photography have committed to raise $25,000 to build a school as part of Pop’s “Season of Promise” fundraiser.
In our quest to raise this money we ask for your help. Over the years, I have often been asked if I run workshops, sell prints or consult. If you are among those interested, here’s your chance to both donate to an amazing cause, get your year end tax deduction and join me as I share what I know, my time and my art. You donate directly to our fundraising page at Pencils of promise so 100% of your contribution goes towards building a school.
