5 Different Ways to Use a Single Octabox

An octabox is a highly versatile and relatively affordable modifier that many photographers use in a wide variety of genres and scenarios. This fantastic video will show you five different ways to use a single octabox.

Coming to you from Ab Sesay with PhotoVideo EDU, this excellent video discusses five different ways to use an octabox (in this case, he is using an Elinchrom Rotalux). Octaboxes generally render light pretty similarly to a softbox, but a lot of photographers prefer them because they create more pleasing catchlights. With a relatively large footprint, they can create very soft, flattering light that wraps around the subject. And they are useful for more than just portraits; they can be used to light products, still life images, and a lot more. They are also a popular choice for location work and environmental portraits, as they are easy to set up and can easily provide a variety of different looks. Check out the video above for lots of helpful tips.
