A Beginner's Guide to Using Lightroom for Organizing and Editing Photos

When you are new to photography, getting a firm grasp of your cataloging software and how to perform basic edits will help to set a strong foundation for future growth. Lightroom is one of the most popular choices for these tasks, and this excellent video tutorial will show you the ins and outs of working with it.

Coming to you from John Branch IV Photography, this great video tutorial will show you all the basic aspects of importing, cataloging, editing, and exporting photos using Lightroom. It is a good idea to take time to explore Lightroom's editing capabilities; Photoshop still reigns top between the two when it comes to more involved edits, but Lightroom can accomplish some pretty advanced edits, often saving you from having to take more time and effort to switch over. If I could go back to when I first started my catalog, one thing I would do differently is set up a stronger keywording and organization system immediately. After about 10,000 photos, I eventually had to take an entire weekend to reorganize my entire catalog just so I could find images that were more than a few weeks old! Check out the video above for the full rundown.
