Feeling Stuck Creatively? Here Are Some Tips to Get You out of That Rut

Being in a creative rut can be a vicious circle of trying too hard to get out of it and only meeting more frustration when you can't find the results you're seeking. This great video will give you some helpful tips to bust out of that rut in no time.

Coming to you from Chelsea Nicole Photography, this video contains some excellent tips to help you break free from a creative downturn. Personally, I'm someone who tends to be paralyzed by choice, so I often find that when I'm having trouble getting started, it's twice as hard, as the possibilities seem endless, and I can never settle on a direction. At these times, I find it's best (paradoxical as it may seem) to impose restrictions on myself, even if they're arbitrary and only for the purpose of kick-starting my creativity. These can be things like only shooting with a wide depth of field or making sure there's yellow in every shot. The problem-solving I have to employ to work with the restrictions often gets the creative juices flowing. The next time you're unsure of how to get started, try making a rule for yourself. Check out the video above for more helpful tips.
