A Guide to Various File Formats in Photoshop: What They Are and When to Use Them

If you've ever looked at the list of file formats available in the save dialog box in Photoshop, your head might have started to spin trying to keep track of all the available options and to understand which you should use and when. This helpful video will talk about all the file formats you need to be concerned about and in what situations you should use them.

Coming to you from Aaron Nace of Phlearn, this helpful video will teach you about file formats in Photoshop and which ones you should be using for various situations. While it might seem like a mundane topic or one you don't have to worry about, it's something that will greatly affect the storage space you use (and trust me, that can add up really quickly as you start working on larger edits) and it can also affect your ability to keep working on your files down the road should you wish to make changes. Furthermore, you'll want to be well versed in what file types to deliver to clients and to use for posting on the web without using a ton of bandwidth. Check out the video above for the full rundown.

informative video. regarding "gif" vs. 'jif" though... no controversy, it's properly pronounced "jif". personally, i don't pronounce it that way, but that could just be my upbringing shining thru. on a side note, dude seems like he might be a drinker. not that there's anything wrong with that by any means. #happyshooting

I think you've linked to the wrong video.

The actual topic is like 11 minutes into the video, for some reason.

Ah yes. How odd.
