How to Create Custom Vignettes Using Photoshop

Vignettes are an incredibly simple and powerful way to draw attention to the subjects of your photos, but they can go far beyond just adjusting the exposure for part of an image. This great video will show you how to create your own custom vignettes using Photoshop.

Coming to you from Jesus Ramirez with the Photoshop Training Channel, this helpful tutorial will show you how to create your own custom vignettes using Photoshop. Vignettes are are straightforward and powerful way to draw the viewer's eye to the subject of your photo. However, you can do quite a bit more than simply lowering the surrounding the exposure. By adjust things like clarity and saturation, you can take advantage of things like color and contrast to increase the emphasis on your subject all the more. The important thing to remember with vignettes is that it's really easy to go overboard. It's definitely worth stepping away from your photo for a minute or two after you add the vignette, then coming back to it with a fresh set of eyes to make sure it's not overly obvious (being sure to properly feather the edge of helps this a lot).
