How to Create Your Own Lightroom Presets

Poke around online, and you'll find thousands of Lightroom presets for sale, promising to give you the looks of famous photographers and styles. However, it's really not hard to create your own presets for free, and this helpful video will show you exactly how to do it.

Coming to you from Mango Street, this awesome video will show you how to quickly and easily create your own Lightroom presets. Doing so is a good idea if you frequently photograph a lot of the same sorts of images and subjects and find yourself frequently applying similar adjustments to achieve the style you like, as it'll save you a lot of time and also ensure more consistency between your images. In addition to these advantages, I personally think it's much more beneficial to create your own presets than to buy them. When you purchase presets, you run the risk of not understanding the editing process that created that specific look, which makes it hard to tweak them or to find your own style. On the other hand, creating your own forces you to understand how all the various parameters work and interact to create a final image. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
