Three Different Window Light Portrait Photography Looks

Windows can be a great way to add some elegance and visual interest to a portrait. This great video will show you three different ways to incorporate windows into a portrait shoot using only natural light.

Coming to you from Gavin Hoey with Adorama TV, this awesome video details three different methods for shooting natural light portraits with windows. The main thing you have to consider is the fact that the dynamic range of the scene is likely to be a bit extreme, with the scene outside the windows being significantly brighter than that inside. If you just shoot to try to keep everything in range, you'll end up with a sort of middle of the road image. And if you're looking to keep detail in everything, you can certain shoot like this and then edit to bring up the detail on your subject. But you can also embrace the highlights or the shadows to taste, and this will give you vastly different looks, both of which can yield can great photos depending on what sort of look you're going for. It's an easy and fun way to take great portraits. Check out the video above for the full rundown!
