This is a long exposure, a result of a blend and one of my favorite pictures.

for some reason, my eyes are pointing me towards the shadows of the two closest most gondoliers. love the colors though and how silky smooth the water came out like that.

I absolutely love the tones in this scene, the dynamic range is very well controlled, and the shadows know when to get deep and rich, instead of having that yucky HDR look. Having said that, the tack-sharp appearance of the boat pilots, on the perfectly glassy water, just don't seem right to me. It's a neat artistic idea, but as a photograph, it is a detraction to see such an implied impossibility.
